Edward A. Facer, 48, was driving a Freightliner tractor southbound when it ran off the right side of the highway, through the guardrail, and down an embankment near milepost 22.5 in Bedminster around 5:10 a.m. on Friday, August 25, NJSP Det. Jeffrey Lebron told Daily Voice.
Facer, of Port Matilda, PA, was killed in the crash.
Those who knew and loved Facer immediately shared tributes on social media, including the Port Matilda Fire Co. 15, with which he had a lifetime membership.
“Ed was a very kind-hearted guy and would do anything for anyone that he could do,” the fire company penned in a tribute. “Rest in peace brother until we meet again.”
Other condolences from friends and family members referenced Facer’s “heart of gold” and said that he was “unapologetically his own person.”
“Edward Facer Jr. lovingly known as ‘Butter bean’ was killed in an accident doing what he loved most driving [a] tractor trailer in New Jersey,” another post says.
“He was a great friend with probably the biggest heart I’ve ever met.”
Facer’s funeral arrangements were pending.
